Resources
Some Table Design Resources:
- The Design Philosophy Behind Great Tables - Great post from Richard Iannone and Michael Chow about their inspirations for Great Tables / gt.
- Show Me The Numbers - Stephen Few talks much more about design principles and cognitive psychology for both graphs and tables.
- Table Rules in R - great blog post by Tom Mock about guidelines for table design
- Tabular Presentation - The original manual from the Census Bureau, which helped to inspire gt/Great Tables. Very in-depth, and provides a lot of guidance, a little overwhelming.
- Ten Guidelines for Better Tables - Jonathan Schwabish’s paper that Tom Mock (in the post above) uses as a framework.
- Tables as Powerful Representational Tools - recommended by Michael Chow. It’s a bit more of a computer science approach to table design.
