Frequently Asked Questions

• How do I keep up with the latest courses, workshops and learning communities from the Data Science Lab?
  • Send a blank email to dasltraining-join@lists.fhcrc.org to join our mailing list
• Are the Data Science courses (Intro to R and Intro to Python) good for beginners?
  • These courses are designed for beginners, no previous coding experience is necessary.
• What about course caps? Will I get waitlisted?
  • Depending on demand, we will open another section of Intro to R, which may be limited to remote only.
  • Intro to Python is a new course, so it will be capped at 40 people total.
• What do I need for the programming courses?
  • We will be using online tools (Posit Cloud for Intro to R and Google colab for Intro to Python), so you will need a browser to access these tools.
• I can’t make the course times - can I still take the courses?
  • You can follow along with the notebooks. The sessions will be recorded, so you can review these in your own time.
• What are the Learning Communities?
  • Learning communities help you apply what you’ve learned in workshops and courses by showcasing applications. Come learn from others and share examples.
